#3: Grounded
Sela's father, Kaspar Vahl, is the most decorated pilot aboard Mothership Dania. He is also, once again, on the bench.
The strip's words, panel by panel
- Caption: "The Cargo Bay. The pilots' ready room." Kaspar Vahl, a grey-haired pilot in a brown flight jacket, slouches by a bench. His daughter, Cadet Sela Vahl, stands by the chart table: "Dad? The deck crew says you're grounded." Kaspar: "Resting. Between flights."
- Kaspar shrugs. Sela, arms folded: "What happened?" Kaspar: "The wing commander gave an order. I had a better one."
- Sela: "Did you mention it?" Kaspar: "Over the open channel. The whole wing heard."
- Kaspar, one finger raised: "Insubordination is just leadership nobody asked for."
- Sela, arms folded: "Is that what you told the promotion board?" Kaspar, hands on his hips: "All three times."
