#2: Report for Duty
Trained for alien worlds. Assigned to the griddle. (The second page I ever drew of this, redrawn in the game's pixels.)
The strip's words, panel by panel
- A black panel filled with an alarm: "BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!"
- A cabin aboard the ship. Cadet Sela Vahl is asleep in her bunk ("ZZZ"); the clock over it reads 0850. The ship's PA: "Cadet Sela Vahl, you are to report for duty at your assigned station by 0900. I repeat: by 0900."
- Sela, still under the blanket, stretches both arms straight up and switches the alarm off: "CLICK!" A small "yawn".
- She drags herself out of the bunk with a long "MOOOAAAN". Sela: "Duty. Right."
- Sela, now in her cadet's uniform, hands on her hips, by the cabin door: "I've been trained to survive unknown elements and kill dangerous alien species."
- The Cantina's kitchen. Sela stands at a griddle with a spatula: "Why am I flipping burgers?!" Chef Castell, in his whites and toque, hands on his hips: "Protein patties, Cadet. Nobody aboard has seen a cow in seventy-three years."
