#1: Seventy-Three Years
Before Dania - First Encounter, there was a comic I drew about a cadet aboard a colony ship. It's back, redrawn in the game's own pixels: every Monday until the full release, the life of Cadet Sela Vahl aboard Mothership Dania, seventy-three years out from Earth and still looking.
The strip's words, panel by panel
- Caption: "Mothership Dania. 2599." In the Academy's Great Hall, Speaker Corvo lectures from the stage: "In the year 2526, humanity was starting to colonize new planets."
- Cadets stand in a row; at its end, Cadet Sela Vahl, arms folded. Corvo, off-panel: "Technological advances of the century before had let us explore solar systems within our own galaxy."
- Corvo points at the class: "The Space Exploration Federation was given high priority: to keep Earth from overpopulating, and to find new resources."
- Sela: "So we're the overflow."
- Corvo: "Seven motherships were launched: Dania, Ilion, Kestrel, Marrow, Selkie, Tamarind and Voskhod. Each to find a habitable planet, and colonize it."
- Sela: "Sir? That was seventy-three years ago." Corvo, off-panel: "Yes?" Sela: "How's it going?"
- Corvo, hand over his face: "Class dismissed."
